Study in Freedom 10/22
Encaustic
6"x 6"

This is last nights completed piece.  I have several going at the moment and am looking through my collection of what if, redo pieces.  I like this small format because it gives me freedom to be free with my wax and paints.  It is a good way for me to get ideas for larger pieces, my encaustic thumbnail sketch.

This is the piece at the beginning of last night.

My process of Study in Freedom

Thought I would post the process of Study in Freedom.

My process of Study in Freedom

I started with this piece.  It was a board from a stack of rejects...or to be continued or reassessed stack.

I flipped it and started adding texture with wax and oil stick.  This has several layers.

Then entered the yucky stage.  I did not like it, but gave it a try.

Removed some of the yucky color top right and added my favorite colbalt blue encaustic paint,
More layering with wax, paint stick, and torching!

Added white and carved in some places where the wax was thick.

Little paint stick in the groove, little torching and the final piece!
